iCloud - Think Cloud

WWDC 2011 is happening right as I blog and after talking about iOS 5, Steve gets on stage and gets his speech on iCloud stirring up people. The word iCloud might make your imagination think that it is something like MobileMe, but it is more than that. You can not restrict yourselves to just mail and contacts, you can take up documents, books and photo streams. The best part is that it is all free. You will have a free 5GB storage for everything except photo streams and books. What about them, photo streams and books are free. So now you can buy a song in you iTunes and you don't need to sync to get it on your iDevice. This is also a part of the iTunes matching service. And with that announcement, the keynote ends up. There wasn't any hard concentration on hardware I guess

Busting New Features of iOS 5 at WWDC 2011

The WWDC is happening at San Fransisco right now as I am blogging now, and I am here to tell you about the new features of the iOS 5 announced at the conference. According to the announcement, the new iOS will contain about more than 200 new features and they have discussed about 10 of them in detail, which include:

  1. Notifications: The new iOS will contain a new notification system which will be less ineruptive than the previous notification system i.e. will show messages and other notifications in the top of the screen, not disturbing what you are doing.
  2. News stand: You can consider this as the iBooks app for reading newspapers and magazines.
  3. Twitter: Twitter on iPhone has made a major remodel for the new iOS, it will be integrated into the basic apps, such as camera, contacts etc.
  4. Safari: Safari includes new features such as story mode and better tabbed browsing. Tabbed browsing also has quicker tab switching mechanism.
  5. Reminders: You know what the name says, a reminder app, which is juiced up to remind you even if you leave a place by setting up a geographic wall, along with lots of other features.
  6. Camera: This old time favorite baby now includes automatic enhancements and a load of smart features such as using the volume up button for taking a picture. You can also go the camera app quicker than ever directly from the lock screen.
  7. Mail: Mail has recieved more features such as rich text formatting and MIME.
  8. Game Center: More game center updates include better way of finding friends and downloading games directly from game center.
  9. iMessage: Similar to iChat but far more better iPhone and iPad buddy connecting device.
  10. PC-Free: This is one of the most awesome features. They claimed that PC is going out of existence and that people prefer only an iPhone or an iPad in their hand. So, the new iOS is bringing an PC free system. You have no need to setup your iPhone initially. It will be unlocked without even connecting to the PC.
Other new exciting features include a new and improved UI, Airplay mirroring and much awaited WIFI syncing. The iOS 5 will be available for iPhone 3gs and onwards. According to the announcement, it will be available this fall.
